Norwegian developer Opera has just released the latest beta version of its eponymous browser, Opera 4.2 mini, which it hopes will allow it to compete more efficiently with the likes of the soon-to-be released Mobile Firefox (AKA fennec) and Apple's Safari.
Version 4.2 will introduce improved support for Google's Youtube online video service (especially on Nokia and Sony Ericsson's phone) as well as the popular skinning feature that appeared on Opera mini 3.
In addition, the browser will be pushed from Opera's brand new servers in the US, plus you will also be able to synchronise your notes between the desktop and the mobile versions of Opera as well as bookmarks and recently visited websites
Opera is compatible with Blackberry and Palm, although in the later case, you will need JVM to run.
Om a statement, Opera's CEO said that "The number of people using Opera Mini worldwide proves that there is a true revolution going on: people want to access all their favourite sites on the mobile phone they have today"
The 3-year old browser us been used by 20 million users per month according to Opera and according to Hitslink has a cumulative marketshare of 0.6 percent.
