As many as three-quarters of web users from UK, who often “stumble across” content and images of online child sex abuse do not know how and where to report it, says a recent survey.
According to a recent poll conducted by the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), 77 percent of the UK adults didn’t know what to do if they come across images portraying child abuse; however, 70 percent of the respondents expressed their concerns about online content depicting child sex abuse.
Peter Robbins, IWF’s Chief Executive, has expressed his intentions of raising awareness about IWF’s “hotline” service in combating online child pornography.
He said in a statement, “The UK has a very proactive approach to tackling child sex abuse content online but we could do even more with the public’s help.
In addition he also asserted that the users, who complain against these illegal contents through its website, are protected by law.
The organization has rendered commendable services in countering the evil of online child abuse, and it received almost 35,000 complaints last year
