Barclays Bank has decided to offer a new comprehensive security application for its online customers.
Although the bank is already offering free antivirus software to its internet banking customers, it has realized the need for an all-round protection, as banking customers are vulnerable to several other intrusions than just virus attacks.
Apart from providing virus protection, the application also incorporates several other features, which include- firewall protection, anti-spyware, anti-adware, parental controls and spam filtering.
The software is worth £51 and it will be provided by award winning Security firm Kaspersky Labs.
As the service is offered free of charge, around 2 million online banking customers are said to benefit by this security tool.
“As internet fraudsters become more sophisticated it is important that customers protect their computers from all threats and not just viruses”, said, Sean Gilchrist, director Digital Banking, Barclays.
Barclays had already delivered an anti-fraud device named PINsentry to its customers last year.
